This large Moorish townhouse has been sympathetically restored over the last two years to give you a characterful holiday home. From the large (45 square metre) sun terrace, the views over the village, mountains, church tower and Mediterranean sea are superb. Situated to benefit from the rising sun in the morning right through to the setting sun in the evening many of our guests have said the roof terrace is our jewel in the crown.

As well as the 3 double bedrooms, 2 single bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, we have a large open plan kitchen and dining area, situated on the floor below the roof terrace. This is extremely convenient for food preparation and al fresco eating on the roof. With a gas BBQ, kitchen sink, dining tables and 10 chairs, eating on the roof during the day and night is a great experience. Whilst it can get really hot, we have provided a large cane pergola, hexagonal awning and large sun umbrella to provide you with the necessary shade. Four sun loungers, double lilo and splash pool complete your relaxation experience. For a real swimming experience, the local Hotel Balcon has a beautiful double pool/bar area five minutes stroll away. Entrance to this is by a 5 Euro day pass (half price for children), which gives you multiple entry, towel and sun lounger.

If you’ve had enough of the sun, then our DVD/video room on the ground floor is both cool and dark. Enjoy our large selection of various titles suitable for all ages. If television is not your thing, then why not retire to the Moorish internal patio on the first floor, where you can relax on the comfortable settee with a good book. We have a large selection of books and magazines situated throughout the house, again titles suitable for everyone.

The Costa del Sol beaches are a 25 minute scenic drive away. Torre del Mar and Torrox Costa have beautiful promenades with large beaches and the associated restaurants and bars. The area surrounding Nerja has rocky coves, Naturist swimming, caves and beautiful cliffs. Walking in the surrounding National Park is a deeply relaxing experience, and in the house we have a guide book with many walks for your use. We can also organise a local guide who speaks English & Spanish for you if you wish.

Competa itself, is a wondrous place to explore, the white buildings, small narrow twisting streets and beautiful pot plants all combine to form a glorious jumble of colour. With over 35 bars and restaurants…. 20 of which are within a 10 minute walk from the house!! We feel you will not want to cook every night. Supermarkets, banks, estate agents and internet café all help to make life more sophisticated and easy in this mountain village. The central square, Plaza Almijara with its church and unusual tower, is only 2 minutes walk from the house and is the heart of the village’s social life. It is here that the annual wine festival takes place…. Starting at midnight on the 15th August each year…. The Noche del Vino should not be missed.

Why not have a day trip to Granada and visit the Alhambra…. Inspiration for our kitchen floor!, or visit the caves at Nerja, or go to the Picasso museum in Malaga. The ports of Torrox and Veleta have an excellent array of big sailing boats equalling that of Puerto Banus! At Velez Malaga you can play golf at the Bavaria golf course, or go shopping in the El Ingenio store complex… a great morning out for the girls in the party.

All in all, Competa is a great place for a holiday, even if you only want to sit on the roof terrace, suck in the sun, dabble your toes in our splash pool and read one of our library of 100 books, you will return to your home sunkissed and relaxed. Enjoy!
