Casa Castanho is close to the historic riverside town of Tavira and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Eastern Algarve. The property consists of a 2-bedroom villa and a 2-bedroom bungalow available for holiday lettings. The villa and bungalow have their own patio areas, gas BBQ, garden furniture and both share the 10m x 4m swimming pool. We also live within the 2 acre grounds with our 2 friendly dogs so we are on hand to provide help if needed and local information. The location is a popular holiday destination for golfers, walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and anyone wishing to have a quiet relaxing time away from the crowds.

There is a bar and small local shop just across the road from the villa but the village of St Estevao is only 1.5 kilometres away. Tavira (5 kms) has lots of bars, restaurants, daily fruit market and 2 large supermarkets.

The beaches and coastline of the area form part of the Ria Formosa, a nature reserve that includes a series of lagoons and islands rich in bird and plant life. On the seaward side of the islands are beautiful sandy beaches with all the facilities to enjoy a day at the seaside ie beach bars, toilets and shower facilities and a few shops. Our nearest beach is Barril at St Luzia which is about a 5 minute drive away; the beach is reached by a small train. A little further along the coast are the holiday resorts of Monte Gordo and Manta Rota, and Vila Real de S Antonio on the River Guadiana which separates Portugal from Spain.
